Padang-Padang is notorious for its dangerously thick, hollow, and unforgiving tubes, as well as for being one of the most picturesque and fickle surf spots on the island.
In 2005 Padang-Padang Cup was held in near perfect 6-8 foot conditions, just days away from the end of the three week waiting period, but was in a word, “epic”. This years waiting period will start on the 15th of August and go until the 15th of September, and with Padand-Padang already having put on several significant appearances this season, there is no doubt that another “epic” event will be seen this year.
And in order to preserve the established tradition that this event represents, Rip Curl will not flash the green light for the contest until a minimum of a 6-foot swell arrives.
